  ok, so in the interests of balance....(as it has rightly been pointed out that i am getting more bitter toward the org), can we think of any positive or nice things about jehovah's witnesses?.

  They are... punctual. Their meetings always start on time, and usually end on time.

  They know how to arrange and stack chairs.

  They also really know how to make the most of 1950 clothing styles and fashion.

  David Splane Destroys the Very Foundation of 1914- Corp. Meeting New Light

  at the corporate meeting david splane discusses the use and misuse of types/antitypes.. the main qualifier of a type is that an account must be represented in the scriptures as a. type of some future event.. he quoted schroeder who said if an account isnt explained in the scriptures as a type than you.

  shouldnt use the event as a type.. splane summed up his talk by saying if the bible is silent - we must be silent.. but they go right on celebrating the 100 years from 1914 which was determined by improperly.

  going beyond anything written in the bible about nebuchadnezzars tree dream.. the bible specifically refers to the immense tree as representing nebuchadnezzar.. daniel explained it and that should be the end of the matter.. .

  He Got Reinstated . . .

  feeling low today.

  i haven't posted for a long time (forgotten log in details = new username) i'm in a good place with my family now and have built a life outside the religion.. today i found out a good friend has gone back and got himself reinstated to be able to have contact with his elderly mother.

  that is the only reason apparently.

  At times, I am still able to jump into my JW head (yes, it is a frightening, terrible place! :) -- but I think I might see what you might be feeling or getting at.

  You were, and are, being shunned hard by your "dear, faithful, loyal" JW family And it has caused much pain and loneliness for you and those closest to you now. You know they are being bravely supported by all those other faithful, loyal Witness who keep encouraging them for their fine, strong stand. And are they not a fine example indeed! Look how their faithful stance is being blessed (by whatever theocratic bullshit & privileges).

  And so you are shunned, left out, and hurt.

  And here is Another family, perhaps not so loyal and faithful to Jehovah and his righteous standards.... Why yes, they are hypocrites according to the standards of this religion!! And they are also not disciplined when they do not shun in the same way.

  When someone buys into this religion hard (as I did, and as your family, from the sounds of it, also did), then these are the way of things. And when other families "in the truth" are not so "faithful" or are even, gasp - spiritually weak!! - this is also the way of things in the congregation (and there are always those situations!)

  yes, it feels like duplicity and according to the standards of the JW world, it is not right! so maybe these are the feelings you are trying to come to terms with.

  it might help to remember there are different levels of belief and indoctrination -- and if the GB had their way, EVERYBODY would be "sheeplike" and follow their counsel!!! And yes, many people do (I sure did!!!). And then there are other people in the congregation who are more balanced, and I mean that word in the "worldly" way now, the non-JW meaning of "balance" which the JWs have also tainted by their bias and prejudice.

  in some way, shape or form, this religion hurts everybody, some more than others. I am sorry you are going through this.

  on oct. 22, eight brothers were released from prison in turkmenistan by presidential amnesty.

  (see 2014 yearbook, p. 31) the ninth brother is still imprisoned, but it is hoped that he will be released shortly.

  some were already in prison for three or more years and had been severely mistreated.

  It is my understanding that in order to retain its status as a tax-free, religious organization, the WT needs to prove they are a charitable organization (NOT!!!). The "preaching work" is the ONLY "charitable" thing they do.

  can anybody help me find on line the essay about the watchtower' s deceptive use of quotations?

  i mean the one where alan goes to bethel and has a meeting with a senior person from the writing dept, and he can see no wrong in misrepresenting anothers words, if it makes a good quote.. alan's old on line url of geocities,com/osarif does not seem to be up any more .

  i would like to use this in discussion with an ex elder of my acquaintance.. thank you..

  There is a weird visual discrepancy for me in the photo. It shows both Caleb and his parents walking AWAY from the light... Walking away from what looks like a paradise-like setting, and Caleb running AWAY from a door, with a burglar-sort of body language. Like he's trying to get away fast.

  It it just strikes a wrong note.... like they pictured it backwards....

  an odd letter was read at last nights' meeting.

  it was in regards to a special campaign for next year arranged by the governing body to go and preach in israel.

  the call is going out to anybody that speaks hebrew and english.

  Tech49, I think you are right. In William Schnell's book, "30 Years a Watchtower Slave", he described how Rutherford would DELIBERATELY send in his "companies" (publishers/colporteurs) into areas of high resistance to stir up persecution, which he would then push through the court system to help the WT gain legitimacy, protection, legal status, publicity, sympathy, and whatever else they could gain from having his minions be beaten, thrown in jail, tarred & feathered, etc.

  JW TV - One Further Step Towards Making the Organization Soft & Cuddly

  one of the more astonishing developments within the organization in recent years is the muting of the more "out there" behaviors of this once fiercely confrontational and proud end-times religious group.. members were unapologetically no part of the world and couldn't give a rat's ar*e what you thought of them.

  whereas the organisation fostered an outlook of warning the "wicked" world of the imminence of its destruction at the hands of the almighty - and spared no effort in doing so - nowadays the organization is sucking in its more "loose cannon" elements.

  in the place of these elements is a sparkling, smiling, airbrushed group of worshippers who parade their wholesome settled lifestyle to win converts.
